In a report to Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., Ignacio Santos Diaz, IRO-PESO officer-in-charge, said that from January to August this year, the city government has facilitated the employment of 4,500 job applicants to various private companies operating in the city.
The job opportunities were the result of three mega-job fairs, 15 barangay job fairs and 78 mini-job fairs conducted from Jan. 1 to Aug. 31 this year.
The report noted that the jobs ranged from janitorial services, call center operators to top level executives as well as overseas employment.
The job fairs have been a regular activity of the city government in coordination with 400 companies that have given Quezon City residents the priority in job openings.
The companies provide the city government with a monthly report on the number of newly hired personnel.
Apart from job fairs, the IRO-PESO has also sponsored career guidance counseling programs for some 5,898 students from 17 schools during the months of January and February.
Another batch of 3,230 students also attended similar seminars in eight schools during the month of August and September. Perseus Echeminada
