October 8, 2005 | 12:00am
A taxi driver was shot dead in Marikina City yesterday when he fought off an attempt by a robber to take his P900 earnings for the day.
The suspect shot driver Victor Feliciano, 52, a native of Bulacan, for deliberately slamming his taxi into an electric post on Israel street in Greenheights Subdivision, Barangay Nangka at about 5 a.m.
Witnesses described the suspect as about between 53" to 56" in height.
Salen said Feliciano was found dead inside his taxi (PXF 247). He was shot in the head.
The vehicles headlights and tail lights were still on while the taxi meter was running.
Police investigator PO3 Orlando Salen said the money was found intact inside Felicianos wallet.
Police have launched a manhunt against the suspect.
In Valenzuela City, a 75-year-old Fil-Chinese store owner was found dead in a pre-dawn robbery pulled off by still unidentified suspects yesterday.
Superintendent Billy Beltran, city police chief, identified the victim as Chuana Tan of 72 Rubber Master Road, Barangay Lingunan, Valenzuela City.
Tan was discovered at around 4:30 a.m. by his wife Judith. The body was sprawled bloodied on the floor of the sari-sari store they owned.
Initial statements from Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) forensic investigators, who processed the crime scene, said Tan apparently died from loss of blood due to multiple stab wounds he sustained in different parts of the body. Non Alquitran, Jerry Botial
