The body of a female high school student, who had gone missing last Saturday when a bus fell into a river in Rodriguez, Rizal, was fished out last Sunday from the Marikina river.
Some 29 hours after the incident, the body of Carol Borromeo, 14, was found floating on the Marikina river in Barangay San Roque, Marikina City at about 5:15 p.m.
Police said the girl was identified by her parents and relatives at a funeral morgue, where her body had been brought for autopsy.
Borromeo, a second year high school student at the Pasay City South High School, was with her schoolmates following a field trip to the Avilon Zoo in Barangay San Rafael, Rodriguez town (formerly Montalban) last Saturday when the incident happened.
On their way back to Manila shortly before noon, one of eight Greenstar buses hired by the school fell into the river.
The other students, assisted by residents, rescued some 56 students from the bus. Twenty passengers sustained injuries.
Police said strong currents may have carried Borromeos body down the river to Marikina. Non Alquitran
