September 5, 2005 | 12:00am
Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has led city officials during the formal launching of the citywide search, for outstanding day-care workers, which is aimed to recognize the vital contribution that day-care workers play in the effort of providing a good educational foundation to three to five year-old day-care children, comprised mostly from urban poor families in Quezon City.
To qualify, nominees should have a very satisfactory performance rating in the last two years, and should have met the required minimum educational requirements and are currently involved in community projects or programs.
An initial screening committee shall be formed in each of the citys four districts to entertain interested nominees. The secretariat is considering the ratio of one nominee per 10 day-care centers. To date, the city has about 229 day-care centers spread over the citys 142 barangays.
After the selection is done in the district level, the names of the nominees will be submitted to the sponsors screening committee for the review and assessment of all documentary requirements and actual interviews of the nominees. Ten candidates will be chosen for the final second level screening.
Evaluation and recommendation for the top three placers has been set during the third level screening set between November and December this year. Presentation of winners has been set early next year.
The search for QCs outstanding day-care workers is sponsored by the Rotary Club of R.I. D-3780 (Quezon City), Rotary Club of Loyola Heights, Quezon City Chamberette Inc., Reintegration for Care and Wholeness Foundation Inc., and the Alliance of Quezon City Homeowners Associations Inc., in cooperation with the office of the Mayor and the citys social services development department, headed by Teresa Mariano.
