Chief Superintendent Wilfredo Garcia, director of the Southern Police District said elements of the Task Force Oliver Ong Dy are pursuing various leads based on informations provided by the victims close friends. Garcia said Senior Superintendent Roberto Rongavilla, chief of the Muntinlupa City police and task force head had interviewed the close friends who vowed to reveal all to give justice to Dys death.
"We now have a clear picture of the incident. But we cannot reveal additional details as of this time as it might jeopardize ongoing follow-up operations," Garcia said.
Earlier, Rongavilla told The STAR, Dys parents and close relatives have started cooperating in their probe to unmask and arrest the killer. "They are providing us important documents regarding Dy and we are now following them up in the field. We are still in the process of elimination," said Rongavilla.
As established by Rongavilla, Dy left his condo unit in Makati City at 4:18 a.m. on Aug. 14 apparently to fetch the suspect from his working place. His mobile phone showed that he made his last call to a certain JP Pierre, a newly-found friend based in Muntinlupa. More than an hour later, Dy was found dead at Camella 2E subdivision in Barangay Putatan. He was stabbed more than 35 times by a screwdriver. To finish him off, the suspect bashed his head with a stone.
The suspect escaped on board a red Chevrolet (XWL 583), which, according to the Land Transportation Office was registered in the name of Dys mother.
The task force investigation showed that the suspect is not a resident of the said subdivision but of a nearby area.
"May magandang development na pero nasa field pa ang mga tao natin," Rongavilla told The STAR yesterday. Non Alquitran
