September 4, 2005 | 12:00am
A Chinese-Filipino businesswoman was killed while her husband and son were seriously wounded when their houseboy went berserk and attacked them with a knife inside their house in Sta. Cruz, Manila past midnight yesterday.
Suspect Randy Agustin, 25, was nabbed by a police team led by Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, an hour after the attack as he returned to his employers residence on Rizal Avenue to meet with a housemaid.
The suspect did not resist arrest, Sapitula said.
Sarah Lee, 39, her husband William, 42, and their 16-year-old son were rushed to the Chinese General Hospital for multiple stab wounds. Sarah was declared dead on arrival, while the two are in serious condition.
The couple runs a merchandising business.
Police said the couple was sleeping when the suspect knocked on the bedroom door. When the husband opened the door, the suspect repeatedly stabbed him.
The mother and son were awakened by the commotion, but the suspect turned his ire on them and stabbed them. The suspect then left, leaving the murder weapon behind.
The maids rushed the victims to the hospital.
At the police station, the helpers positively identified the houseboy as the attacker.
An unrepentant Agustin admitted the crime, claiming he had been harboring ill feelings against his employers for the cruel treatment of their helpers.
