Malabon City gets patrol cars from Pagcor

-
The crime-fighting capability of the Malabon City police received a new boost from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) that donated Friday five brand-new patrol cars to the local police.

Apart from the patrol vehicles, Pagcor chairman Efraim Genuino also pledge financial assistance for the construction of at least eight police outposts in the city’s strategic areas.

"It’s a big help to our anti-crime efforts and it would also boost the morale of our cops to work even harder," Superintendent Moises Guevarra, Malabon police chief, said.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the police outposts was held also held Friday in front of the Malabon City Square on C-4 corner Letre roads.

Metro Manila police chief Director Vidal Querol and Chief Superintendent Raul Gonzales, Northern Police District director also attended the activity.

The turnover of the patrol cars coincided with the launching in Malabon City of the Serbisyo Muna pro-poor project of the national government.

Meanwhile, the Valenzuela City police also received Friday four additional patrol vehicles apart from the 11 given recently by Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian.

The mayor also initially procured 60 handheld radios for the city police for enhanced and effective communication capability of the cops on the beat.

Gatchalian also added up the police gas allocation to 200 liters a month on each patrol vehicle, this apart from the allocation given by the national government.

Valenzuela has a total of 32 barangays with only 286 policemen under city police chief Superintendent Billy Beltran.

The city has a population of around 600,000 or a ratio of one policeman for every 1,800 residents far from the ideal ratio of one cop for every 500 residents.–Pete Laude
