QC mayor to deliver state of city address

- Perseus Echeminada -
Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. will report to the City Council today the gains achieved by his administration in the last 12 months as well as lay out the development plans the city government will undertake in the next two years.

Belmonte, who was re-elected by a landslide vote for a second term last year, will deliver his State of the City Address (SOCA) at the Albert Hall at about 2 p.m.

The mayor said his administration would concentrate on people development, anchored on soft initiatives.

Apart from the presentation of major development plans, Belmonte is expected to recognize the significant contribution that the Quezon City Council played in the passage of landmark measures that proved vital in the task of propelling the city to growth and progress.

City officials, business, civic, religious and other groups are expected to attend the SOCA.

Nathan Zulueta, chairman of the Quezon City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCCI) said he is eager to hear the report of the mayor.

He said the business community would also want to hear the position of the mayor on issues that will have an impact on the operations and profitability of local businesses.

"We would like to hear from the mayor on how to make the city more business and investor friendly," Zulueta said.
