Laborer kills self in Russian roulette

A 30-year-old factory worker was killed when the gun he was reportedly toying with while in a drinking bout Saturday night in Valenzuela City accidentally fired.

Marco Balanon, a resident of 97 Maysan st., Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela City, succumbed to a single gunshot wound in the right temple, police said.

At around 9 p.m., reports said the victim was in a drinking session with his friends, identified as Fernando Dalaluan, Joel Domer and Vicente Garcia, in his house when he reportedly pulled out a .38 caliber handgun and placed it on the table.

Balanon dared his friends to play Russian roulette. He unloaded five bullets from the gun but left one for them to play with despite objections by his drinking buddies.

He rotated the gun’s bullet chamber and pointed the revolver at his head.

He squeezed the trigger but it did not go off. Balanon repeated the process. This time, the gun fired, hitting him in the head. Pete Laude
