Among the passenger jeepneys that are using photocopied fare matrices are those plying the Marcos Highway via Tandang Sora to University of the Philippines (UP), Tandang Sora City Hall, Cubao, Project 6 and Pag-asa and the Philcoa to Quiapo routes.
The use of photocopied and fake matrices has reportedly caused arguments between drivers and passengers who refused to pay the new rate.
LTFRB Chairperson Elena Bautista has earlier warned operators that they cannot charge passengers of the new rates unless they secure the fare matrix from the LTFRB.
A random survey conducted by The STAR showed that some operators photocopy the original fare matrix and imprint their vehicles license plate on the document.
Some drivers, however, dont charge their passengers the new rate without the matrix for fear of being arrested and fined.
