Woman killed in school accident

A 45-year-old carpenter killed a 37-year-old woman and seriously injured two others when a truck he tried to drive rolled backwards and hit a group of students and parents inside the compound of the Diliman Preparatory School along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City yesterday.
Carlos Cayabyab, resident of Manga-han in Quezon City was arrested by police after he accidentally killed Rowena Arcala, 47, and seriously injured Paolo Villena, 10, and Marilou Calaug, 43, all residents of Bagbag, Novaliches.
Initial investigation disclosed that at about 7:30 a.m. the campus security guard asked Cayabyab if he could drive an Izuso elf truck, with license plate CSS-145, out of the school compound.
Cayabyab, a carpenter in the nearby construction site, reportedly drove the truck backward hitting students and parents who were milling inside the school campus.
Arcala was rushed to the nearby Lanting Medical Center but was declared dead upon arrival while the two other victims were under observation. Perseus Echeminada
