3,117 school bus franchises revoked

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has cancelled the franchises of 3,117 school bus service units, Chairwoman Elena Bautista said yesterday.

Bautista said the LTFRB Central Office in Quezon City reported a cancellation of franchises of 3,074 in Metro Manila and 43 others in others in the provinces.

Bautista said the LTFRB cancelled the franchises due to non-compliance with the agency’s requirements.

Among the requirements for "vehicles for hire" are confirmation of a franchise from the LTFRB with copy of the decision/order; original copy of the sales invoice of the motor vehicle; clearance from the Philippine National Police-Traffic Management Group; appropriate Insurance certificate of cover; Motor Vehicle Inspection Report; copy of the Dealer’s Report duly authenticated by the Assistant Secretary with Official Receipt (OR); and the Taxpayer’s Identification Number (TIN).
