Jobless man dies from Russian roulette

A jobless young man, for want of better things to do with so much idle time in his hands, brought out an unlicensed gun he had kept for some time and played a game of Russian roulette before horrified friends resulting in his death late Thursday afternoon in Caloocan.

Superintendent Napoleon Cuaton, Station Investigation and Detection Management Bureau (SIDMB) chief, identified the victim as Dante Frigillana, 23, single, of Barrio Maligaya Bagong Anyo (BMBA) Compound in Barangay 118.

Frigillana succumbed to a gunshot wound in the right temple and was declared dead on arrival at around 5:50 p.m. at the Tondo General Hospital.

Senior Inspector Florante Santos, chief of the homicide section, said the victim was with his friend Roger Caliwan, 22 of Barangay 117, Caloocan City in front of the house of neighbor Winnie Sarcilla, 45, when the incident happened.

PO2 Joselito Barredo, officer on case, said the victim and his neighbors were engaged in idle talk when the victim pulled out his gun and turned to playing a game of Russian roulette.

To his friends’ horror, he then proceeded to remove all the bullets in the chamber except for one and rolled the chamber in the palm of his left hand, pointed it to his temple and pulled the trigger.

The bullet ripped through his head resulting in his death.

Recovered from the scene were a caliber .38 revolver and three live bullets found in the front pocket of the victim’s trousers.
