A bus full of rush hour passengers caught fire along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Parañaque City yesterday morning after its engine overheated.
Investigators said no passenger was hurt in the fire that gutted the RRCG bus (PXP-582) driven by Restituto Alvarado.
Alvarado told investigators the Alabang-bound bus was traveling on the southbound lane of the SLEX when he noticed smoke suddenly rising from the front of the bus at around 6:52 a.m.
Police Officer 3 Joselito Quila, of the Traffic Management Group, said the front of the bus then caught fire, prompting the driver to immediately stop the bus and order all passengers to alight from the vehicle.
The flames quickly spread, gutted the entire bus before responding firefighters arrived in the area.
