A police task force is eyeing two possible motives in the beheading of a housewife and the killing of her husband, three-year-old daughter and a housemaid in Western Bicutan, Taguig City last Sunday.
Taguig police chief Superintendent Ramon Reyes said they are now following up on leads that may lead to a solution to the killing of Hayda Napura, 44; her husband Antonio Napura; their adopted daughter Haidi and housemaid Tata Netis, 18.
Their lifeless bodies were found in a state of rigor mortis inside their residence at ISG Central, Sitio Sto. Niño in Western Bicutan last Sunday evening.
Reyes said that they are eyeing revenge as a possible motive to the killings, considering the brutality of how the crime was perpetrated.
Hayda was beheaded, Haidis throat was slit and Netis, who was found naked and believed to have also been raped, was killed by possible strangulation.
The husband was stabbed to death and was found lying on his belly in the kitchen.
"This is not a case of random killing, it may have been planned. The killers may have been very angry and we expect to make arrests soon," Reyes said begging off to give more specific details so as not to affect their ongoing operations.
Police have conducted a strip method of investigation within a 200-meter radius of the immediate vicinity of the crime scene, but failed to find the victims head or other possible clues.
No forcible entry was observed on the main door of the house.
Robbery is also being looked into by police.
Initial investigation conducted by SPO1 Conrado Mapili and PO3 Ehron Balauat showed that items inside the wifes room were in total disarray and the lock of her wooden cabinet was forcibly opened.
Sources told police that she had a habit of hiding money in the cabinet which she earned from the sales of her bakery.
Taguig Mayor Freddie Tiñga reiterated that peoples participation was vital to the immediate solution of this case and he has called on witnesses who may have vital information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to call a hotline they have created at 640-2222.
The wifes brother Antonio Nalagay and her baker Ahron Noble went to the victims house at 6 p.m. last Sunday and discovered the bodies of the victims.
Meanwhile, The crime laboratory of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has taken saliva, fingerprint and footprint samples of six relatives and employees of the victims to rule them out as suspects.
Chief Superintendent Ernesto Belen, crime lab director, said they are cross-matching the samples with those lifted from the crime scene, including the 11-inch butchers knife, the vaginal swabs and pieces of blood-stained clothes.
Each process costs the crime lab P15,000.
"The job is a very tedious process and we expect the results to be out in three weeks," Belen told The STAR.
He said investigators also lifted 10 sets of fingerprints from a jewelry box, a detached wooden cabinet door, the refrigerator handle and a book. They also took two sets of footprints.
