CPD director Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan Jr., in a report to Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., said a series of operations resulted in the confiscation of a total 25 short firearms and seven rifles of different calibers.
Among the firearms seized were 14 caliber .38 revolvers, 10 caliber .45 pistols, one caliber .357 handguns, six shotguns and one Thompson submachine gun.
Radovan said elements of the Cubao police station nabbed one Ernesto Salceda when two .38 and one .357 were found inside his traveling bag near the chapel inside Camp Crame.
Operatives from Police Station 8 recovered the submachine gun inside a van registered under the name of a certain Marlon Ocampo after it figured in a vehicular accident. Reports showed that the vehicle was being driven by Ocampos driver and helper identified as Dioniso Espina.
In Batasan Hills, Police Station 6 officers apprehended seven suspects, who yielded various handguns during the serving of search warrants on suspected criminals.
Operatives at the Talipapa police station caught a man in possession of a .38 revolver with live ammunition along Zamboanga street in Culiat.
Police have filed appropriate charges against the suspects before the Quezon City Prosecutors Office.
