Fire hits Las Piñas barangay anew

-
Even as some 270 families await relief goods at an evacuation center following a fire that gutted their homes in Barangay Talon 4, Las Piñas City the other day, another residential area in the same barangay was hit by another blaze yesterday morning.

Investigators said 10 more families were left homeless and evacuated to the barangay covered court after an hour-long fire gutted their houses on Enos street .

Deputy City Fire Marshall Alvin Salazar said the blaze started at around 8:20 a.m. from the house of one Gregorio Sumagaysay. The fire reached the first alarm before it was put out at 9:03 a.m.

No one was hurt in the fire. The other day, a three-hour long fire hit Sitio Pulo in the same barangay leaving a responding firefighter, identified as Fire Officer 2 Julibert Escubido, hurt with minor burns in different parts of the body.

Investigators said faulty electric wiring was the possible cause of the fire, which started from the ceiling of the St. Gaspar Ventuli Day Care Center at around 2:32 p.m.

The fire had reached Task Force Bravo before it was put out at around 5:30 p.m.

The local government of Las Piñas City has begun distributing relief goods to affected families. City Hall officials said they would provide basic needs of the victims until their houses are rebuilt.

Meanwhile, two fires hit the cities of Valenzuela and Malabon one after the other, leaving 100 families homeless.

Valenzuela fire marshal Superintendent Efren Yadao said a fire hit the Asia Compound on T. Santiago street, Canumay West Valenzuela at around 8:52 last Monday.

The fire was declared out at past 10 p.m.

In Malabon, a fire blamed on faulty electrical wiring, razed two houses.

The local Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire started at the house of one Antonio Chan on Narra street in Barangay Panghulo. The blaze, which damaged Chan’s antique collections, was put out after two hours.
