Firefighter hurt in Las Piñas blaze

-
A fireman was hurt while battling a blaze in a crowded residential area in Las Piñas City yesterday afternoon.

Fire Officer 2 Julibert Escobido of the City Fire Station sustained lacerations in several parts of the body when flaming debris fell on him as he was training his hose at affected houses in Barangay Pulo, Talon 4.

Escobido said the fire started at around 2:30 p.m. from a still unidentified source and immediately reached Task Force Bravo 30 minutes later.

The Fire Station Operations Center said it has yet to determine the cause of fire as well as details on the number of affected families and houses.

In Quezon City, a candle on an altar may triggered a two-hour fire that gutted a two-story house along Samson street in Filinvest, Batasan.

Report from the Quezon City Fire Department said that the blaze, which began around 11:30 a.m. yesterday, was declared under control at about 1:30 p.m.

Initial investigation disclosed that the fire broke out near the altar located at the second flood of the building.

Investigators are still determining whether a candle or an altar lamp was the cause of the fire. No one was hurt in the blaze. - Edu Punay, Perseus Echeminada
