Las Piñas Rep. Cynthia Villar expressed high hopes that her pro-environment bills filed at the House of Repesentatives will be passed soon.
This, after the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development approved Villars House Bill 1210 or the Green Parks Act of 2004, which seeks to create green parks in open spaces of subdivisions to promote ecological balance, especially in urban areas.
"The governments housing program and policy to provide shelter for the people should be in consonance with a health and livable environment. Thus, a portion of a residential, commercial and industrial subdivision should be devoted to a green park," Villar said.
Under the bill, at least 30 trees should be planted for every hectare of land within the bounds of a subdivision.
