Playful janitor falls to his death

A 27-year-old janitor died after falling from a car garage on the sixth floor of a building in Malate, Manila the other day.

Teddy Realo, of Hornet street, Palar Armor Village, Makati City, died at the Ospital ng Maynila while undergoing treatment for a gaping head wound.

Realo worked as a janitor of the Landbank Plaza building along M.H. del Pilar street in Malate, Manila.

Fellow worker Joel Balajadia told police the victim was quite playful and would find satisfaction at being chased around. He would then stand on the ledge of the car ramp and feign jumping from the sixth floor. He delighted in seeing the look of panic and fear in his co-workers.

According to Balajadia, the victim performed this stunt on him that day.

While standing on the ledge, Realo warned him, "Wag kang lalapit, tatalon ako."

The witness said the victim lost his balance and fell on the pavement below.

Security personnel tending the car park who heard a loud thud, rushed the victim to the nearest hospital.

In Marikina City, a motorcycle-riding man was killed after he tried to overtake a car yesterday morning.

Police identified the victim as Juanito Ballesteros, 23, an employee, and resident of Barangay Marikina Heights in Marikina City.

Ballesteros died at the Amang Rodriguez Medical Center due to head and body injuries.

The victim was riding a Honda motorcycle with plate number KM 1119 when the accident took place at around 3:30 a.m. along Gen. Ordoñez Avenue.

He lost control of his motorcycle while trying to overtake a car at the corner of Valenzuela street.

The victim suffered severe injuries when he smashed into a concrete Meralco post.

A passerby rushed him to the hospital, but Ballesteros died while receiving treatment for his injuries. – Nestor Etolle, Sandy Araneta
