Former QC exec gunned down

A former assistant secretary of the Quezon City government was shot dead at the parking lot of a warehouse-type supermarket on Congressional Avenue in Quezon the other night.
A lone gunman gunned down Ricardo Cruz, 55, a resident of Tandang Sora, Quezon City. In the late 80s, he was a former assistant secretary of then Quezon City Mayor Brigido Simon.
Cruz was shot just as he was getting out from his Honda CRV at the parking lot at 6:30 p.m.
Initial reports revealed the victims wife Zenaida, who was the first to step out of the vehicle, was about to enter the shopping mall when she heard gunfire from the parking lot.
"Nakita na lang nakabulagta yung biktima," one shopper said.
After the shooting, the suspect boarded the CRV and brandished a pistol as he sped past security guards manning the exit and headed toward Project 8 in Quezon City.
Cruz who sustained a gunshot wound in the chest was rushed to the Quezon City General Hospital where he died few hours later.
