Basketball star-turned-comedian Venancio "Benjie" Paras and movie actress Amy Perez, Ma. Armida Perez-Ferraris in real life, asked the Court of Appeals (CA) and the Supreme Court (SC), respectively, to allow them to travel to the United States with their sons for a vacation.
Paras, whose marriage to actress Jackylynne "Jackie" Forster was declared null and void by Quezon City Judge Romeo Zamora in 2003, told the Court of Appeals that he is scheduled to fly to the US for a vacation from March 18 to April 9 and he intends to bring his two sons, Kobe and Andre.
He cited that when the Quezon City RTC ruled on the annulment of his marriage, he was awarded custody of his two sons.
Meanwhile, in a four-page very urgent motion for the issuance of an order allowing her minor son, Adrielle, to travel with her to the US, Perez told the high court that she intends to leave on March 18 and return on March 27.
Pending resolution of her petition for nullity of marriage to Brix Ferraris, the court ruled in 2001 that no child of the parties shall be brought out of the country without order from the court.
In seeking court approval to bring her son to the US, Perez explained that she was constrained to file the motion because her estranged husband has made himself inaccessible to her and thus the required paternal consent for their son to travel with her cannot be obtained.
