Bomb threat hits Malabon University

- Jerry Botial -
Students, teachers and school personnel of the Malabon University went into panic after an anonymous caller told a school employee that a bomb was set to explode last Friday afternoon.

The threat, however, turned out to be a hoax.

Malabon City Mayor Tito Oreta deplored the prank call as utterly irresponsible and at the same time reminded the public to continue to be vigilant in the face of possible terrorist attacks.

Reports said classes at around 4 p.m. were disrupted after the alarming report went around the campus located at Maya corner Pampano streets in Malabon City.

School officials prudently advised the faculty to suspend the classes and tell the students to get out of their rooms because of the threat.

Bomb disposal experts from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), including a K9 team, quickly responded to the scene after an unnamed personnel at the university treasurer’s office, who received the malicious call, sought police assistance.

The bomb disposal squad patiently searched the whole building and premises for the reported bomb, but found nothing.
