2 Malabon murder suspects fall

Two prime suspects in the killing of a worker two years ago were arrested by police intelligence agents in a series of operations last Friday in Malabon City.

Jerry Fabiano, 28, a native of Hamindan, Capiz and a resident of Barangay Catmon, Malabon; and Globin Bakil, 22, a native of Western Samar and a resident of Barangay Niugan were tagged as the principal suspects in the slay of Elviz Pedralves two years ago.

Superintendent Sotero Ramos Jr., Northern Police District -District Police Intelligence Unit (NPD-DPIU) chief, said Fabiano and Bakil were subjects of a warrant of arrest issued by Malabon City Judge Benjamin Antonio.

Fabiano was apprehended by DPIU agents at around 12:05 a.m. along Gov. Pascual Avenue in Barangay Catmon, while Bakil was arrested 30 minutes later along Vicencio street in Barangay Catmon.

Ramos said that Fabiano and Bakil, with four other suspects, attacked and killed Pedralves who passed by the suspects along a dimly lit street in Barangay Catmon on the night of Dec. 8, 2002.

The suspects ganged up on Pedralves and beat him up before finishing him off with bladed weapons. The suspects then went into hiding.

After learning that the suspects were spotted roaming in Malabon City last Friday, Chief Superintendent Noe Wong, NPD director, instructed Ramos to immediately arrest them. – Pete Laude
