Army man gunned down in Marikina

An Army soldier and his live-in partner were killed after they were gunned down by three men riding in tandem on a motorcycle in Marikina City yesterday morning.

Police identified the slain victims as Victor de los Santos, 29 of the Philippine Army based in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig, and Rhea Ann Fernandez, 23, both residents of the Baludad Settlement Site in Barangay Nangka, Marikina.

Investigation conducted by Police Officer 3 Orlando Salen, case investigator, showed the incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. while the couple was walking in their village.

It was learned that the assassin’s motorcycle, a blue Kawasaki bike with plate number UH-7568, suddenly stopped a few meters from the couple. Two of the three men on board started firing a barrage of fire from caliber 9 mm pistols.

The killers immediately sped after the shooting. – Rainier Allan Ronda
