Addressing the plight of thousands of Filipinos suffering from the spate of typhoons that have hit the country in recent weeks, Petron Corp. has utilized its extensive distribution network to receive relief goods.
Since Dec. 1, Petron service stations have been receiving various donations from the motoring public.
"We would like to express our sincerest appreciation to all our countrymen who have responded to our appeal for support through our service stations. There is no donation too small to make a difference, and our stations are open to receive your generosity," said Malu Erni, executive director of Petron Foundation Inc.
Petron was the first oil company to make available its facilities as a means of channeling much-needed assistance to typhoon victims.
In partnership with the ABS-CBN Foundation, Petron has been helping to mobilize aid for afflicted areas. Petron delivered the first batch of donations to ABS-CBN on Dec. 3.
"We are heartened by the support being shown by many of our business partners, most notably the Petron Dealers Association," Erni said.
In the spirit of volunteerism, a cornerstone of the companys social responsibility, hundreds of Petron employees have come forward to give various items such as food, clothing, blankets and sleeping mats. They have also expressed their willingness to volunteer and go on-site and assist in disease relief operations.
"We thank our employees who have foregone their annual Christmas packages and shared their blessings with our countrymen," Erni added.
Petron employees as far as Davao, Cagayan, Zamboanga, Agusan del Norte and General Santos have pledged their wholehearted support to the campaign.
Petron is also contributing to the relief effort being coordinated by the Department of Energy together with the Corporate Network for Disaster Response. For contributions, please go to your nearest Petron station or contact Petron Foundation at 886-3142 or 886-3888 (ext. 3500).
