Aguilar issued the warning as she directed the city health and business permit and licensing offices to conduct a round-up inspection, classification and rating of water refilling stations in the city.
She said the move is aimed to ensure city residents get safe and purified drinking water.
At the same time, classification of water retailers will force its owners and operators to comply with the prescribed standards.
The move also aims to prevent any occurrence of water-borne diseases caused by unsafe or unclean drinking water such as diarrhea, cholera, typhoid fever, amoebiasis and the like.
Section 10 of PD 856 or Water Supply and Sanitation Code of the Philippines mandates the local health authority to inspect and evaluate, classify and rate all water refilling stations according to the level of compliance with the Sanitation Code.
The local government will evaluate the location of the water station, quality of source and product water, protection and transport of product water, filling and capping of bottles and dispensers, toilet and hand washing facilities and personnel requirements.
