Fire razes 80 houses

A 27-year-old woman was injured as some 80 houses were razed by fire that hit a densely populated squatters area in Quezon City yesterday afternoon.
Fire Officer 3 Elmer Olivas, of the Central District Fire Department, identified the injured resident as Rudelyn De Mesa. She suffered a laceration in the foot while trying to run away from a burning house.
Initial reports reaching the Central District Fire Department on Agham Road disclosed that the fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. yesterday at a squatters colony located along Congressional Avenue Extension, Sitio Bacood, Barangay Pasong Tamo.
Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the blaze, which reached Task Force Echo.
