Two hurt as truck falls from flyover in Pasig

A motorcycle policeman and a truck driver were injured Sunday when the latter lost control of his vehicle, which fell from the C-5/Ortigas flyover in Pasig City.
PO1 Reynaldo Damas, of the Taguig police and truck driver Joseph Niebres, 34, of Camarines Norte, sustained body injuries and are currently being treated at the Medical City Hospital.
Police said Niebres was behind the wheel of an Isuzu Wing van (RAF 469) on he southbound lane of the flyover when he lost control of the vehicle at around 11:30 p.m. last Sunday. The van swerved to the left and went over the elevated center island before hitting Damas motorcycle on the opposite lane.
Police said the truck then rammed the concrete barrier and fell from the flyover. The vehicle landed on two owner type jeeps (DNZ 491 and XRW 849) parked below the flyover.
Witnesses pulled out Niebres from the wreckage and rushed him and the police officer to the nearby hospital.
Senior Inspector Fernando Lumbania, Pasig City police traffic chief, said the truck was towed to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) impounding area along Julia Vargas Avenue.
Police are readying multiple damages and physical injuries charges against Niebres before the Pasig City prosecutors office. Non Alquitran
