The son of Francisco Guy, owner of 3D Home Appliances, finally broke his silence on the accusation that he has taken away his father from his wife and daughters and asked to let family matters stay in the family.
Gilbert Guy, chief operating officer of Northern Islands Company Inc. (NICI), said the case of habeas corpus filed by his mother Simny Guy and sister Grace G. Cheu claiming that "I had illegally detained my father Francisco Guy, has been dismissed by Judge Vivencio Baclig as of June 25, 2004."
In a statement faxed to the press office of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Gilbert also noted that the subsequent motion for reconsideration and supplemental motion for reconsideration were denied in the (court) order dated July 21, 2004.
"The court have spoken but I am now barraged on media. Let justice be done, let my father be given his due peace and quiet. Let this family matter stay in the family," stated the two-page statement.
He said that his father Francisco sold 80 percent of the shares of NICI and other companies to him in recognition of his dedication towards his work for more than 18 years.
"The facts of this dispute are clear. First, Francisco Guy Co Chia and I, Gilbert Guy, have worked to preserve and build NICI and its other companies since the time that my mother and my sisters lived in Canada in the 1970s, he said in a statement.
Gilbert pointed out secondly that "controlling and voting stock was sold to me in 1986 by my father, and not a word was heard from either my mother or my siblings, mainly because they were in Canada already availing the benefits of their citizenship."
"Third in March 2004 when they filed suit of illegal detention, both my parents had been staying in my house for about 20 years," he added.
"Fourth, they have claimed ownership of NICI after having made my father sign documents in spite of his current condition of Alzheimers disease," Gilbert said.
He further averred that the Manila Regional Trial Court has issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) "in my favor, restraining his mother and sisters from preventing the management led by Francisco Guy Co Chia as president; Gilbert Guy as vice president and Tan Eng Sui as director from discharging their respective duties and functions as duly elected and/or officer and directors."
He added that his mother and sisters have refused to honor the order of the court as they refused to allow the court sheriff to enter the NICI offices and refused to receive the TRO.
