Girl on motorcycle killed in C-5 mishap

A female high school student died when her motorcycle, which was moving against the flow of traffic, was accidentally hit by a van last Wednesday evening on C-5 Road in Taguig.

Police Officer 2 Erizaldo Gaoaen identified the fatality as Jodalyn Naing, 16, a fourth year high school student and a resident of Palar Village, Taguig.

The driver of the Toyota Revo (XAD-923) was identified as Antonio Gabriel Corona, 21, a graduating student of Ateneo de Manila University and a resident of Posadas Village in Muntinlupa City.

Initial police investigation showed it was raining heavily at around 7:30 p.m. when Corona’s van, which was moving southward on C-5 Road in Barangay Ususan, hit Naing’s Honda Dream motorcycle (TR-5767).

"Nag-counter flow si Jodalyn. She was on the wrong lane of C-5 to avoid a flooded portion of the road," Gaoaen said.

Police said the victim did not have a driver’s license.

Gaoaen said the rain could have blurred Corona’s view and may have not seen the motorcycle until it was too late.

"He could not avoid hitting her. He then brought her to the hospital," he said.

Naing was taken to the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital, where attending physicians pronounced her dead arrival 30 minutes after the accident. Evelyn Macairan
