Las Piñas’ historical corridor to boost tourism

-
The local tourism industry in Las Piñas is expected to be given a boost when the city’s vision of a first-class cultural heritage site is realized.

The project, known as LP’s historical corridor, a strip of 18th century-inspired houses and buildings, is expected to complement the the Battle of Zapote Bridge park.

The park will feature monuments, historical landmarks and a barangay hall to ensure the safety of tourists and promenaders.

The 100-year-old bridge, which was blown by Katipuneros to prevent Spaniards from entering the province of Cavite, is a testament to Filipino patriotism and bravery.

Las Piñas Rep. Cynthia Villar, who is spearheading the cultural heritage site project, said that it will serve as a reminder of our forefathers’ great sacrifice and love of country.

"In times when patriotism and nationalism seems scarce, it is just but appopriate to remind people of lessons from the past. There could be no greater teacher than history," Villar said, adding that more than attracting tourists, LP’s historical corridor was built to preserve the heritage of Las Piñas.
