The driver of a taxi cab and his female passenger miraculously survived a collision with a Philippine National Railway (PNR) train yesterday morning in Makati City.
Driver Edwin Lacre of Cavite and passenger, Wila Sandoval, 34, escaped with only slight injuries, said traffic investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Miguel Descalzo.
Lacres taxi (PWC673) was a total wreck. The victims were bound for Ayala Avenue from Roxas Boulevard.
Investigation showed Lacre allegedly ignored the warning sign that a train was approaching and crossed the PNR tracks on Buendia Avenue.
The train, with Body No. 401 and driven by one Audi Madrid, hit the hood of the taxi cab, dragging the vehicle at least 10 meters before they slammed into a concrete wall of a nearby PNR station.
Descalzo said Sandoval, as the taxis passenger, may file a complaint against Lacre. Nikko Dizon
