18-hour water cutoff

The Maynilad Water Services Inc. will conduct major repair and maintenance work in its central and south business areas today, which will necessitate a temporary 18-hour water cutoff from 12:01 a.m. up to 6 p.m.

In the West Zone, the areas that will be affected are Parañaque City, Las Piñas City, Pasay City in the South; Imus, Bacoor and Binakayan in Cavite; the districts of Binondo, Intramuros, Ermita, Malate, San Andres, Singalong, Paco, Pandacan and Port Area, Barrio Magsaysay and the area bounded by Moriones, R-10 and Ilaya in Manila; and Barangay Palanan, Bangkal and Pio del Pilar in Makati City.

Hospicio de San Jose, Hospicio de San Juan de Dios, Philippine General Hospital, Mary Johnston Hospital, Ospital ng Maynila, Gat Bonifacio Hospital, Manila City Hall, and the GSIS Complex including the Senate will also be affected.

In the East zone, the areas that will be without water today are North Daang Hari, Barangay Tanyag and Aniceta in Upper Bicutan.

Maynilad said that the water interruption will allow the company to replace two defective 300m gate valves in Jaboneros and Del Pan, a defective 200mm actuator in Mabini and Laong-Laan and a motor at the Villamor Pumping Station. The company will also undertake repairs of a 300mm gate valve in Pedro Gil and Benitez, a leak at a 300mm line in Taft and Vito Cruz and three check valves and two butterfly valves at the Pasay Pumping Station.
