Pasig cops relieved

Metro police chief Director Ricardo de Leon ordered yesterday the relief of the remaining personnel of Police Community Precinct 6 (PCP-6) in Pasig City after a night-duty officer was caught on camera sniffing shabu inside police headquarters.

Earlier, SPO4 Rufino Dancel, PCP 6 commander, was sacked for command responsibility and negligence in the performance of duty, over the actions of drug offender PO1 Samuel Quiteves, who is facing summary dismissal proceedings.

"Although Dancel was responsible for identifying the erring officer, it does not change the fact that Quiteves is one of his men, this shows poor leadership on his part," De Leon said.

The Metro police chief pointed out that Dancel’s relief is part of the National Capital Region Police Office’s policy of accountability.

Relieved along with Dancel were six other personnel of the PCP-6. Tapped to replace Dancel was Inspector Earl Castillo.

Quiteves and the two barangay tanods were featured on the TV program Imbestigador last June 19. The video footage showed them sniffing shabu inside the precinct. The cop was in uniform.

In coordination with Pasig City Mayor Soledad Eusebio, De Leon also ordered a drug test for all police personnel of the city to cleanse their ranks of scalawags. Non Alquitran
