A Japanese businessman lost some P500,000 worth of cash, home appliances and personal belongings to suspected members of the notorious Akyat-Bahay gang while away from his home in Quezon City.
Yasuhiro Kogure, 36, of Rolling Hills Subdivision, New Manila, went to the police yesterday and complained that his fully-furnished house was almost emptied while he was gone for a week.
Initial investigation showed that Kogure left his home on the evening of May 24 and returned only on May 29 to find that his house was ransacked by thieves.
The suspects managed to enter the house by destroying the screen of the back of window of the dining area. A witness from a nearby house claimed that three suspicious men were seen walking at the creek carrying home appliances and iron bars.
Police said that among those stolen from Kogures house were expensive signature shoes and clothes, cellphones, water dispenser, washing machine, television and cash.
