At least 500 students from various schools in Quezon City have benefited from a special program on employment of students this summer by the Quezon City government.

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., quoting reports from the Industrial Relations Office (IRO), said that the summer employment program for students was a joint venture of the Quezon City government and the Department of Labor and Employment.

The students were deployed in various departments of the city government. Of the total number, 238 were utilized in the workers’ census in the formal sector, 135 at the Scholarship and Youth Development Program, 35 at the Social Services Department while the rest were assigned at the Civil Registrar, City Assessors, Gender Development Office and at the Parks Development Department.

The allowances of the students were funded by DOLE (40%) and city government (60%). — Perseus Echeminada
