Revival of Parañaque anti-drug body eyed

Parañaque City Councilor Anjo Yllana has vowed to revive the Parañaque Anti-Drug Council (Padac) following its alleged failure during the past six years.

Yllana, who is running for vice mayor under the administration party, claimed that the campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs and illicit drug trade in the city has not been as efficient and successful as they had expected.

"This is my frustration as a councilor. But I can’t do anything about it. I can’t bypass the other officials of Padac," explained Yllana, who was the city’s No. 1 councilor for six years.

Because of this, Yllana cited the urgency to go after the source of illegal drugs. He explained that the council members should get first get rid the manufacturers and distributors of illegal drugs.

If elected vice mayor, he will automatically head the Padac, which will give him the authority to lead the drive against illegal drugs.

To frustrate those involved in illegal drugs from doing their trade in Parañaque, Yllana said they would verify new tenants of houses for rent.

"It will definitely be a different Padac," he explained.
