Multi-sectoral groups back Las Piñas bet

Las Piñas mayoralty candidate Mel Aguilar enjoys the support of multi-sectoral groups, mostly women organizations, the advocacy of which is embodied in her political agenda giving priority to health services and women empowerment.
The support was aired by Gabriela and the Kalipunan ng mga Liping Pilipina (Kalipi), the 40,000-strong womens group she organized, endorsing Aguilars policy of governance to be realistic and directly addresses the basic problem f poverty and social injustice.
Her policy of governance is giving priority to health services, free education, livelihood projects, and women empowerment through mobilization of Kalipi.
A free education program package for less fortunate but deserving students in the city has been in effect that includes college scholarship at the city college the Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Memorial College.
Pre-school pupils in 65 day care centers in all of Las Piñas 20 barangays enjoy free tuition, uniforms and received regualr school supplies.
Under the term of her husband, Mayor Vergel Aguilar, thousands of children belonging to economically-disadvantaged families have already availed of the free and quality day care services of free tuition, uniform, and school supplies.
Mrs. Aguilar, who chairs the Las Piñas City Nutrition Council, takes charge of providing proper nutrition and health care to the students.
Just last month, additional P5 million has been approved to finance a series of livelihood programs to augment earnings of low-income families. Ongoing seminars and lectures are being conducted to train housewives and other family members who wish to improve their lot through self-help income-generating endeavors.
Mrs. Aguilar vowed to continue the legacy of her husband in providing not only the basic services by making the welfare of every Las Piñero a priority.
