Navotas trader gunned down

A 29-year-old businessman was shot dead in front of his residence by a lone gunman yesterday morning in the coastal town of Navotas.

Police identified the victim as Perlito Bacolod, of Banak street in Dagat-Dagatan.

Bacolod was reportedly fixing his motorcycle in front of his house when a gunman wearing dark sunglasses approached him from behind and shot him without saying a word at around 8:15 a.m.

The suspect grabbed the victim’s gold necklace and fled.

Bacolod sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body and died on the way to the Tondo Medical Center.

Police prober SPO4 Mario Arias recovered four spent shells and a slug of a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.

Witnesses said the suspect was only wearing short pants and a white sando, stands around 5’6", of medium-built and with fair complexion.

The Navotas police were still trying to establish the real motive behindthe killing as of presstime yesterday.

Meanwhile, in Caloocan City, a taxi driver was reportedly robbed and killed by his lone passenger yesterday in Barangay 176 in Bagong Silang.

Police said that at around 1 a.m., Jaime Ancheta, 41, driver of EMP taxi, with license plates TVY-538, surfaced at the Barangay Hall of Barangay 176 bloodied and asked to be brought to a hospital claiming he was a victim of robbery.

Barangay watchmen rushed him to the East Avenue Medical Center but he did not reach the hospital alive.
