The body of a Filipino-Chinese man was split into four parts after he jumped off the rooftop of a 39-story condominium building in Ermita, Manila yesterday morning.
Police identified the alleged jumper as Edwin Dexter Ong, 26, single, jobless, and residing with his parents and siblings in one of the units at the Robinsons Towers condominium located at the corner of Padre Faura and Jorge Bocobo streets in Ermita.
Investigator PO3 Paul Dennis Javier said body parts of the victim were strewn all over the ground as a result of the impact. His body first landed on a concrete enclosure of the building.
Javier said the victims legs were separated from the body, his left arm was recovered on top of a galvanized roof, while his torso landed near the comfort room of an adjacent eatery.
The buildings security guard, Adrian Ocampo, told probers that he saw Ong walking aimlessly on the rooftop, but ignored him since he recognized him as a tenant. Five minutes later, Ocampo heard a loud thud and saw the scattered body parts.
Javier said the victims sister, Annabelle, related that a few days ago, her brother intimated to her that he wanted to end his life after learning that he would be left alone with his father with whom he was not in good terms. The victims mother and her sisters are scheduled to leave for the US.
Police are still investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, a young coed was found dead with stab wounds in front of the Emilio Aguinaldo College along Gen. Luna street in Ermita, Manila yesterday morning.
The victim was identified through papers recovered from her as Diana Rose Dawang, a student of Emilio Aguinaldo College and working part-time at the KFC branch in Padre Faura.
Police said the victim apparently fought off her attacker. A pair of mens shoes was also found at the scene of the crime.
A witness told police he saw a man wearing a polo shirt, shorts and a bullcap running away from the scene just before the victim was found.
