Wanted: Tondo thrill killers

- Nestor Etolle -
In less than 48 hours, police investigators have identified two members of a street fraternity gang allegedly responsible for killing a man in Tondo last Thursday.

Police are now in hot pursuit of the alleged gunman, a 17-year-old resident of PNR Compound in Tondo, and his accomplice Federico Alvear, 24, of 2186 de los Reyes street, Tondo. Both are reportedly members of the dreaded "Street Dangerous Fraternity" gang whose members are mostly teeners.

Investigations showed that the suspects, together with three other teenagers, went to Alvarado Extension in Tondo looking for a certain "Laarnie."

Minutes later, the group was seen having a verbal altercation with a resident of the area identified as Eduardo Ramos, 30. After a heated exchange of words, the 17-year-old and Alvear drew their guns.

The teener allegedly shot Ramos at pointblank range, while Alvear reportedly stood as lookout threatening to shoot anyone in their way. The suspects then commandeered a tricycle and drove toward Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Tondo.

Based on cartographic sketches shown to residents in the area, officer-on-case SPO2 Virgo Villareal was able to determine the identities of the suspects. However, the suspects went into hiding after they were tipped off by their friends, according to Villareal. Police are set to file homicide charges against the suspects, even as a metro-wide manhunt has been launched against them.

Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy and several other teenagers allegedly beat up and stabbed to death a 25-year-old jeepney driver past midnight yesterday in Tondo.

The victim, Eduardo Enriquez, of 2087 Angat street Raha Bago, Tondo, died at the Mary Johnston Hospital while undergoing treatment for three stab wounds in the body.

Officer-on-case PO1 Rommel del Rosario said the victim, together with his brother, was mauled by the suspects and later stabbed to death for no apparent reason. "This can be another case of thrill killing," Del Rosario said.

The 15-year-old alleged knife-wielder is set to be surrendered by his parents to authorities yesterday, Del Rosario said.
