Three fires, including two factories and a residential area, hit Valenzuela City yesterday going into the second week of Fire Prevention Month. The last three were recorded as the sixth to eight incidents break out in the city this year.
Chief Inspector Efren Yadao, Valenzuela City fire marshal, said the first to be hit was a noodles factory early yesterday morning.
The fire at Geronimo Food Products along Rincon street in Barangay Rincon erupted at around 1:30 a.m. allegedly from the factorys production area.
Another two broke out one after the other in the afternoon. The first burned down several houses on Sta. Brigida street in Barangay Karuhatan at 1:30 p.m. and was put out at 2:30 p.m. The fires origin is still being determined by fire authorities.
The other fire hit a slipper and sandals factory identified as Winex Products International along Molina street in Barangay Veinte Reales that erupted at around 3:05 p.m. The fire, initial investigation showed, started from the boiler room as an explosion was heard before thick smoke came out and fire quickly spread.
As of press time, the third fire was still ranging. Fire fighters have yet to determine the extent of the fires damage.
In Quezon City, six houses were destroyed in a one-hour fire that started from a house on Don Fabian Bitoo street in Fairview.
The fire, which started at 1:35 p.m. reached the second alarm. Jerry Botial, Pete Laude, Katherine Adraneda
