Malabon City’s No. 2 most wanted falls

- Pete Laude -
A 25-year-old man, listed as the No. 2 most wanted criminal by the Malabon police, was arrested yesterday by joint elements of the city police and intelligence units.

Senior Superintendent Freddie Panen, Malabon police chief, identified the suspect as Allan Coronel, alias Allan Blue, of 5 Camus Extension, Barangay Ibaba, Malabon City.

Coronel, also known as Palos for his ability to easily elude authorities, has four warrants for his arrest for illegal drugs and murder charges.

At around 8:30 a.m., Coronel, a feared toughie in the area, was cornered by the police along Luna street in Barangay San Agustin.

Superintendent Gene Ines Abrajano, the city’s deputy chief of police, said that Coronel’s arrest was the result of a three-week surveillance operation under "Special Project Palos."

Abrajano said that several criminal acts were attributed to the suspect, particularly in Barangay Ibaba, but nobody in the locality would testify against him for fear of their lives.

Armed with four warrants of arrest issued by Judge Benjamin Antonio of Malabon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 170, the cops, led by SPO2 George Gubatan, ended Coronel’s unlawful acts.

The suspect was turned over yesterday to the custody of the city’s Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
