Cash and jewelry recovered at NAIA

- Sandy Araneta -
Some $3,000 worth of cash and P80,000 worth of assorted jewelry, or an approximate total amount of P250,000, were recovered by operatives of the Airport Police Department (APD) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) yesterday morning.

APD reports said that a certain Ronilo Jomento, 32, a project engineer in Saudi Arabia, and resident of 45 Castillo Street, Quezon City, lost his baggage upon arrival at the NAIA at around 11:54 a.m.

APD police Cpl. Reynaldo Natividad, Cpl. Jojo Santiago and Cpl. Bonifacio Rosales, all assigned at the NAIA Terminal 1, recovered the baggage two hours later, with all its content intact.

Meanwhile, some 62 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), all victims of illegal recruiters, arrived in Manila recently via Philippine Airlines (PAL).

Based on reports sent by the Philippine Consulate Office in China, the workers paid P55,000 to P100,000 recruitment fee each to illegal recruiters based in Manila so they could work in China as factory workers. But no work were given to the victims upon their arrival in China.
