Interior and Local Government Secretary Joey Lina bared yesterday a list of 15 Chinese nationals tagged as the "most wanted" drug traffickers operating in the country.
Lina said the suspects have pending warrants of arrest for their role in the importation, manufacture and distribution of shabu and other illegal drugs.
In a press conference at his office in Quezon City, Lina presented the roster of drug traffickers, complete with photos, aliases, last known addresses and their respective charges they face in various courts.
The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), which Lina also chairs, is preparing corresponding rewards for information leading to the arrest of the suspects, ranging from P200,000 to P1 million.
Information on 11 persons on the list were provided by the Anti-Illegal Drugs and Special Operations Task Force (AID-SOTF) while the four others came from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Lina identified the suspects as Wang Yashi, alias Aaron Wang, Willie Ong, Siyah or Cia; Henry Tan, alias Eddie Ong and Eddie Tan; Deng Xiao Li, alias Shio Teng and Lucy; Qui Yun Hai alias Carlito Co; Jackson Uy alias Dina; Ding Cai Hui alias Tony Lao; Ronald Yao; Xiao Ya Li; Benito Sze alias Benito Sy; Wen Jin Cai; Chua Lin Yen; Chen Jian Long; Juanito Lee Ty; Randy Chua alias Rodel Uy; Ong Kim Tie alias Alex Ong; and Ong Shin Pin.
"I am urging the public to report the presence of the suspects in your neighborhood so they can be brought before the bar of justice," the DILG chief said.
Lina and AID-SOTF chief Deputy Director General Edgar Aglipay said they will be distributing the list of the "most wanted" drug traffickers to the regional, district, provincial, city and municipal police commands all over the country "so that every peace loving Filipino can watch out for them."
Aglipay noted that Tan was arrested for possession of 350 kilos of shabu, but escaped from a Camp Crame detention center several years ago while Lao was caught with five kilos of shabu and also escaped from the Makati City jail last Dec. 30. The courts have issued warrants of arrests for Tan and Lao.
The AID-SOTF chief said Yao, Cai and Yen belong to an international drug syndicate believed to be behind the operations of the busted shabu laboratory in Pasig City.
Yao, Cai and Yen were all granted bail by the courts. They jumped bail during the subsequent hearing of their case, according to Superintendent Nelson Yabut, of the AID-SOTF-Special Operations Group (SOG). Yabut said Co and Ty were the operators of a shabu warehouse in Paco, Manila.
Aglipay is hoping that by making public the list of top drug traffickers, they would fall one after the other into the hands of the authorities, similar to the success of the anti-kidnap for ransom campaign.
