Fire hits Malabon steel plant

-
A fire of still unknown origin gutted a residential and industrial building, including a steel plant, Saturday night in Malabon City.

The Seanary Steel Corp. and the Coromaro Marketing, occupying the two-story structure at 11 Engineering street, Araneta Subdivision in Barangay Potrero, were razed to the ground by the blaze that started at around 9:17 p.m.

The establishments were reportedly owned by Chinese-Filipino businessmen Juanito Go and Daniel Go.

Arson investigator Fire Officer 3 Noe Bragais said the blaze started at the warehouse of the said building and spread rapidly to the entire structure.

It took almost three hours before Malabon City firefighters and fire volunteers from neighboring localities were able to put off the blaze shortly after midnight.

No one was reported hurt. An estimated P5-million in property was destroyed by the fire and affected at least five families. Arson investigators are still trying to establish the cause of the blaze. –Pete Laude
