No contest in Pasig polls?

While the political scenario in the national level seems to be hotly contested the local scene in the City of Pasig may prove to be a dull contest, according to the camp of the leading candidate.

"With the results of a recent survey undertaken by an independent non-government research group, Survey Specialists, Inc., even this early, the election in Pasig City is already over," according to a statement from the camp of comebacking former Mayor Enteng Eusebio.

The former mayor leads his rival, incumbent Rep. Henry Lanot, 47 percent to 10 percent.

"This means out of 15,000 respondents selected through random sampling representing 10 percent of existing households, Pasigueños this early have chosen to continue the progress and development they have enjoyed since 1992 as can be seen in the various programs and projects initiated by the Eusebio administration transforming the former sleepy capital town to a bustling Mega City," the statement said.

The survey conducted last quarter of the year 2003 showed Eusebio’s running mate, former basketball star Yoyong Martires, leading in the vice mayoralty race besting three other opponents with at least a 16 percent advantage.
