2 dead, 3 hurt in Tondo road mishap

Two persons were killed and three others were injured after being sideswiped by a wayward truck in Tondo, Manila last Monday night.

The fatalities were identified as Arnulfo Sabete, 28, and Rene Sabete, 27, both residents of the PPA compound in Tondo, Manila.

Arnulfo died on the spot due to fractured bones while Rene was taken to the Manila Doctors Hospital, where he later died.

Traffic probers said those hurt were identified as Joselito Camion, Jimmy Agotno and a certain Nelson. Camion is receiving treatment at the Mary Johnson Hospital.

Truck driver Dante Solomon of 629 Yuseco street, Tondo, Manila, surrendered to the authorities after the incident that took place at around 9:10 p.m. along the northbound lane of Road 10 also in Tondo.

Solomon suffered bruises and contusions in the body after he was beaten up by residents in the area after the accident.

Investigation showed that Solomon, who was driving a truck with plate number TDF-698 suddenly rammed a parked truck along the road.

In the process, the victims were pinned in between the trucks. Solomon claimed he lost control after another vehicle bumped him from behind. He, however, failed to identify the vehicle that hit his truck. – Cecille Suerte Felipe<
