Shabu worth P1 M seized in buy-bust

More than P1 million worth of shabu were seized by police from the two Chinese nationals who were arrested in a buybust operation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Quezon City last Wednesday.
PDEA director general Undersecretary Anselmo Avenido said Johnny Codilla Co alias Hsu Liang Yu and Rich Chiang alias Chiang Li-Chi will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Co and Chiang were arrested by PDEA agents during the an operation at around 5:30 p.m. last Wednesday in front of a fastfood restaurant at the corner of EDSA and Kamuning Road.
A total of 519.26 grams of shabu estimated worth of P1,038.520 worth was seized from the duo.
Avenido said his men also seized a Toyota Revo (WBY-373) used by the suspects in transporting the illegal drugs. The suspects were taken to the new PDEA headquarters located at the former EIIB building along NIA Road in Quezon City.
Avenido earlier renewed the call for an intensified campaign against illegal drugs following the arrest of suspected drug trafficker William Gan last Dec. 26 by the PDEA and the Philippine National Police-Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force (PNP-AIDSOTF) in an operation in Binondo, Manila.
